Pain Street

I am so disappointed that a proposal at numbers 24-30 Jane Street, Willaston, includes the demolition of two large family homes, to be replaced with 33 allotments, with an unknown configurations and loss of green space.

The resultant waste with homes and character gone forever, added to normal disposal of the wreck and trash mentality. The subsequent noise and dust will impact peoeple’s health and sanity, combined with the additional traffic, will be horrendous.

Secondly, after demolition the reverse will occur, with the establishment of roads and the aforementioned 33 units?

Thirdly, once established the impact of the additional traffic and 66 cars, given most households have two, will endager walkers, who given the state of footpaths, opt for the road.

I have fallen on said footpath and broken two fingers. Additional cars will affect the traffic flow, both in respect to volume and on-street parking. This is already an issue as some drivers are hesitant even when only one car is parked along Jane Street.

There are numerous young families in Jane Street and additional traffic is a safety issue as children can move very quickly and unpredictably.

I understand that negotiating school traffic is already an issue, notwithstanding the additional stress to the surrounding streets.

Access for emergency services, both ambulance and fire, could be an issue, with only one way out and the added impact of extra cars parked in the street.

Water quality and pressure are also pre-existing issues in Willaston, as is the storm water.

After a storm my husband has limited access to the shed at the back of the property.

Additional infrastructure for sewerage also needs attention.

The creation of a news access point for the majority of the 33 will impact the properties directly opposite, both in terms of additional traffic and car lights into front rooms.

Rubbish collection will be quite a sight, with 66 bins instead of four.

We may need traffic lights at Redbanks and Chamberlain to access our properties.

Historically, Willaston is linked to Gawler as North Adelaide is to Adelaide, an exact copy of Light’s vision.

This proposed site would completely alter the aesthetics of our street both in terms of its appeal and safety.

Light’s vision is slowly being eroded and profit is being put before people.
