DURING this week the Boundary Commission has been holding public meetings (including an online one) to engage the people who live both in our council and in our neighbouring councils on the topic of proposed changes to the Town of Gawler’s council boundaries.

This is part of a process that commenced in January 2024 and only after extensive consultation with all four councils involved.

It has been 40 years since the last review of our town’s boundaries and in that time we know that significant residential development has occurred on all the boundaries of our town.

These homeowners have joined our community and contributed to it.

Unfortunately, they presently have no say on how our town develops as they have no vote in our local elections.

There is an opportunity now through the engagement of an independent body to review the current situation and make it fairer for everyone.

I encourage everyone to have their say via the survey at yoursay.sa.gov.au/Gawler-Boundary-Review or by emailing Gawler- BoundaryReview@bdo.com.au.

You have until the end of August to have your input.
