Gawler Fringe a success

A SOCIETY, a culture, a civilisation can be judged as successful and mature by the number of artists that it supports.

Someone more famous than me said something like that.

So it was with enthusiastic pleasure that I hit Gawler’s Walker Place Fringe opening last Friday.

I was able to mix with many of the who’s who of Gawler and sit for a while to enjoy the show.

Poignant to me was the muso and band, who I have listened to regularly playing covers of other people’s music in Gawler venues, expressing in a break how great it was for him and his bandmates to be able to play originals without having to just play crowd pleasers.

So, thanks to those who funded the Gawler Fringe. It is a measure of us that our council funds it.
