Backing the Wine Train

I WISH to support the Barossa Wine Train, which I believe should be re-instated.

I enjoy watching the great train journey’s in Australia on TV, such as the Indian Pacific and the Ghan Express, which also depicts the change from steam traction to diesel-electric.

During the 1930s some ‘bright’ person persuaded the State Government to dismantle the tram tracks, which went to many places in Adelaide.

Now, today the State Government is reintroducing trams back into Adelaide at an enormous cost to the tax paying community.

While the State Government can spend millions of dollars on sporting infrastructure in Adelaide to attract tourists, why can’t they have the foresight to re-introduce the Barossa Wine train from Gawler to Tanunda?

This would not cost the State Government much at all, because the infrastructure is still in place.

The Barossa Wine train could travel between Gawler and Tanunda several times a day, where shuttle buses could then take tourists to see not only the beautiful countryside, but sample the award winning wines and food the Barossa has become noted for.
