HomeOpinionThank you, Marilyns

Thank you, Marilyns

I WOULD like to sincerely thank the more than 500 Marilyns who took part in the 10th annual Marilyn Jetty Swim on February 4, held as a part of the Channel 7 Brighton Jetty Classic.

In total, 513 Marilyns took to the water, the largest number of Marilyns to date, and to date have raised more than $245,000 for South Australians impacted by cancer, with more donations still coming in.

This takes the event’s fundraising total to over $1 million raised over the past 10 years.

It’s a fantastic effort and one that will make a huge difference to the lives of South Australians impacted by cancer.

A special mention goes to event founder Sarah Tinney, who started the Marilyn Jetty Swim as a community fundraising event in memory of her mum who passed away from cancer.

All the money raised through the Marilyn Jetty Swim will go towards funding Cancer Council SA’s vital prevention, research and support programs for all South Australians impacted by a cancer diagnosis.

Whether you took part in the swim on the day, donated to support a family member or friend or went down to cheer the Marilyns on, thank you for your generosity. We’re incredibly grateful to see donations are still rolling in.

If you’d still like to donate and show your support, you can visit themarilyns.org

On behalf of all those here at Cancer Council SA, thank you. Through your support, we are able to continue our work to reduce the rate and impact of cancer for all South Australians.

Kerry Rowlands,
Chief Executive
Cancer Council SA
