THE incredible performance of our Commonwealth Games team in Birmingham has inspired the Albanese Government as it looks ahead to the Victoria 2026 Games.
Australia finished top of the medal table in Birmingham, both on the gold medal count and total medals, with 178 medals including 67 gold, 57 silver and 54 bronze.
Australia also recorded more than 1000 total gold medals over the history of the Commonwealth Games, the most successful nation in the event’s history.
As the member for Spence, I would like to congratulate our local athletes Lauren Mansfield, Callum Peters, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Miles Scotson and Christopher Flavel for competing in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
They have contributed to this strong effort and made us proud with their achievements in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Whilst we celebrate athletes who achieve medals including the four medals coming home to Spence, I want to acknowledge the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment by athletes and their families needed to participate at the highest level.
We are all proud of every athlete and para-athlete for your dedication and effort regardless of the result.
