Credit to the Show committee

WOW, what a great weekend showcasing our town Gawler. Congratulations to President Isaiah Tesselaar, your committee and the many volunteers, sponsors and supporters for this year’s 166th annual Gawler Show.

Weather was very kind to all, exhibitors were fantastic, and the thousands that attended truly were given an Aussie day in South Australia to remember and enjoy.

It was so good to hear the passionate words of Peter at the official opening.

Since 1854, this event has been going on in our town to showcase our wonderful district, and as a past president, I truly know the work that goes into staging such an event.

Another wow factor was the Taylor & Forgie fireworks display, for not only those present at the show grounds but those around the hills of Gawler.

What is also a credit to this year was a team of young people that have now taken leadership with this year’s Gawler Show in arranging and running this event.

What a credit to them, and their president is the youngest since the shows beginning in 1854.

A couple of examples of that is fantastic MC Jessica McCall, Kangaroo Flat farmer James Krieg with his dairy demonstration, milking a real live cow that the hundreds of children present at each display were fascinated with.

They now know that the milk they drink does not only come from the supermarket fridge.

The Gawler Academy of Dance, local artists doing what they do best.

Thrilling show rides to scare all and even the laughing clowns were there for all to enjoy.

Horses in action, cattle and sheep and chooks, snakes to handle, sheep shearing and sheep dogs display by Jonathon Liebelt, and the wild wood chopping display.

If you want to be involved and become a member, do it.

You will love it.

The Annual General Meeting is in March 2024, give it a go you will be rewarded and next year’s event will be even better.
