I AM increasingly concerned with the behaviour of drivers on our roads.
Every day, I make the commute down the Northern Expressway for work and quite often see prime examples of dangerous driving.
People weave in and out of traffic, change lanes without indicating or even checking their mirrors, or just disregard the speed limit entirely.
In the last month, I’ve twice been overtaken by L platers while going 110km/h – I was under the impression they were not meant to exceed 100km/h.
With the casual, even callous, disregard a lot of our drivers have for road safety, it’s no small wonder our road toll keeps growing.
But how do we change what appears to be a culture of wilful disregard for the rules?
The police are flat out as it is, and speed cameras only seem to slow drivers down in the 200m before and after them.
I hope there are some solutions in the pipeline.
