Tackle the problem now

THE tragic death of a 20-year-old Adelaide Hills footballer at the weekend brings further attention to the game of Aussie Rules football.

The game has dramatically developed and changed in its nature over the past 50 years.

Much attention has been given to fitness, athleticism, strength, speed and tactics during this time.

However, without a doubt, the significant change has been the emphasis on the intensity and constant pressure being applied in tackling the player possessing the ball.

Therein lies the problem, it can no longer go on as is without further tragic injuries and even deaths occurring.
