The choice of The Voice

AN Aboriginal baby, and a child, Appeared on the cover of The Age, The upshot of the message was — They needed help, at this stage.

As today there’s a referendum For a Voice in the halls of power, To give their people a say — So their future will surely flower.

It would be nice to help that baby, And to give that child a voice; The options were vote Yes or No, — And I had to make a choice.

“Yes”, to create a Federal Committee, As that would help them some; “No”, ’cos pollies can’t be trusted, And would make a bad outcome.

Both sides had said some good points, And I wanted to help that baby — So, I chose a midway compromise, And at the booth I voted “Maybe”.
