IN my opinion Gawler has been victim to over a decade of toxic culture and poor leadership.
A Google search reveals news articles consistent with this theme attached to the outgoing council CEO.
Not only has this leader overseen the growing $2 million in ratepayer debt, I believe he left with a golden handshake that was negotiated most recently behind closed doors.
Us ratepayers of this town are bewildered with the lack of transparency and fiscal rigour.
His failure to attend the critical Audit and Risk Committee where he could be publicly scrutinised says it all.
I ask why we need a CEO?
Our Mayor does a wonderful job, so I don’t see why we need a highly-paid CEO when, going back 20 years, we never had a CEO.
