Parking mad

I WISH the gentleman on Selway Place luck in trying to obtain a solution to the problem of cars parking on both sides of the road, thus making it impossible for traffic to pass through.

I also wish him luck in getting council to observe the situation and hopefully do something about your problem.

Come to Jacob Street where I have a continuing saga of cars parking on both sides of the street near the Novita complex.

I have complained to council, yes it is legal for cars to park on both sides of the street, so don’t worry about logistics of cars banking up on Jacob Street back to Cameron Street, or cars wanting to enter Jacob Street from Fotheringham Terrace but cannot due to lack of room, that’s okay.

It may be legal but that does not make it right on a narrow street. Common sense obviously is not a priority with council.

We won’t worry about the fact that there is designated parking available on Fotheringham Terrace, the response from council was that it “was further to walk”.

Rubbish! We won’t worry about cars parking outside our properties all day either, invading the privacy of residents in Jacob Street.

What was a nice quiet street is now a builtup area of car parking, Novita vans continually coming and going and peace and quiet no longer exists.

Shame council, shame on you, allowing a commercial property being built right on a busy corner in a residential area.

Money before residents is very obvious.

I am waiting for a road rage incident to happen as it will, or a bad accident when children from the local primary school wander across the road and get seriously hurt.

If the ambulance or fire brigade need to drive down Jacob Street in a hurry, I hope and pray that they can get through quickly and safely.

That will only happen when the council decrees that parking should only be allowed on one side of the street, not both.

Ho hum!

Annette Pethick, Gawler
