DESPITE Adelaide Economic Development Agency’s general manager, Greg Ratsch, claiming that, with the AFL’s Gather Round and LIV Golf, it is no surprise that the CBD has been a “magnet for travellers” (“Footy, LIV golf pack out hotels” The Advertiser May 29, 2024), with occupancy rates for April city hotels at 78.1 per cent, minimally ahead of Perth (76.2), Sydney (73.6) and Hobart (72.6), apparently the windfall did not include the Adelaide Oval hotel, which is resorting to an EOFY sale package deal fea- turing a reduced overnight stay tariff of $259 plus a generous $100 dining voucher. They may need to invest in a larger magnet to attract customers.
