LYNDOCH resident Madeleine Hopgood was crowned the Barossa’s newest Young Ambassador during a cocktail reception at Seppeltsfield Wines on Saturday.

The 23-year-old received a Singapore Airlines economy return flight from Adelaide to any destination on the airline’s network, plus three nights’ accommodation, as part of her achievement.

Miss Hopgood said she was honoured to be named the 2019 Barossa Young Ambassador.

“It’s been such a wonderful experience from start to finish,” she said.

“I look forward to the future opportunities that this program will open up for me and I can’t wait to guide the next generation of Young Ambassadors.”

Barossa Vintage Festival director Jenny O’Brien acknowledged Madeleine as a “committed and enthusiastic contributor across all aspects of the program”.

“She has shown a dedication to the Barossa, particularly our traditions and bringing them to life for another generation to see and experience,” Ms O’Brien said.

“Madeleine will be a brilliant representative for our region and we look forward to partnering with her over the next two years.”

Now in its 20th year, the Young Ambassador program identifies and raises the profile of future community leaders by acknowledging the important role young people play in the community and  continuing to grow Barossa’s vibrant wine, food, culture and tourism sectors.

Miss Hopgood also won the 2019 Barossa Young Ambassador Project Prize, while Melissa Helyar and Lauren Hutton won the Excellence and Project Recognition awards, respectively.
