Xavier supports Vinnies appeal
1 min read

XAVIER College staff and students have thrown their support behind the St Vincent de Paul Gawler branch and its annual Vinnies Winter Appeal.

The school community will be collecting cans of tinned food to help Vinnies provide aid to those doing it tough around Gawler during the colder months.

Winter is the busiest time of year for Vinnies, with demand for its food and relief services hitting its peak.

The Vinnies Winter Appeal runs from May 27 to June 14, with canned food received from the drive used in food hampers and to stock the ‘Fred’s Van’ meal service.

To boost the collection of non-perishable food items, students donated a gold coin and wore their favourite beanies and scarves to school for the second annual ‘Winter Woolies’ day.

Money raised from the fundraising drive was used to purchase more tins of food for the Vinnies Winter Appeal.

The drive forms part of the Christian Citizenship dimension weaved into everyday life at Xavier, where students are able to learn the value of giving to others, and implement this in alignment with the school motto of RUAH: Respect, Understanding, Affection and Humour.
