WITH both teams sitting at 4-3 on the season, Lyndoch made the trip to Willaston for its Barossa and Light Cricket Association A1-reserves matchup, with the home side making a statement after winning the toss and choosing to bowl.

The Tigers’ Luke Dunn was a menace early, dispatching both openers for 13 and a duck respectively on his way to 2/15 from his eight overs in a strong economic performance.

The visitors struggled to get any momentum, with bowler Ryan Muirhead (36 not-out) the only batsman to really play well as the Tigers’ b owlers were well on top, closing the innings on 132.

The chase was one-way traffic, as openers Trent Payne (62) and Dylan McIver (34 not-out) never left the door open as the home side  printed to 1/136 and a nine-wicket win with more than 20 overs to spare.

In the lowest scoring affair of the round, Light Pass went on the road to Angaston and dismissed the home side for just 88 as Danny Kaye (3/4, two maidens from 3.2 overs) and Simon Davies (2/6, one maiden from two overs) cleaned up the tail.

With no scoreboard pressure on, Light Pass’ Sean Schrapel (47 from 77 deliveries) and Trae McArthur (31 from 51 deliveries) played at their own pace to take an eight-wicket victory with 14 overs still remaining.

Gawler Central travelled to second-placed Greenock as it sits one spot out of the finals, and were unable to get the job done despite setting a respectable total of 9/174.

In-form all-rounder Josh Lourens (42 not-out) led the way for the Tigers’ batsmen, while teenager Will Schluter-Prouse (3/39) again made a strong impression.

The home side’s chase looked to be crashing and burning early, quickly falling to 2/7 thanks to two quick strikes from Hamish Hutton
(2/32), but Hudson Noack (37) and Schluter-Prouse (24) put together a timely partnership to steady the ship.

Lourens (3/24) was also the Tigers’ best with the ball, but it wasn’t enough as Greenock chased down the total in the last over to win by a
solitary wicket.

In the last match of the round, Kapunda hosted Eudunda-Robertstown in a clash between the bottom- two sides on the ladder.

After winning the toss, Kapunda elected to bat, and it was the efforts of Matt Ryan (59) and Sam Ryan (35) that kept the home side c competitive as eight batsmen fell for less than seven runs, with the home side setting a target of 156.

Eudunda-Robertstown were never troubled during its chase, safely reaching 4/160 with overs to spare to take a six-wicket win.

The best performance in the lower divisions came from Nuriootpa’s Anthony Prior in A3 competition, as he scored an impressive 102 from
59 deliveries, including 17 boundaries (four sixes), in his side’s 75-run win over Sandy Creek.
