Undefeated Bulldogs make light work of Magpies

BAROSSA District moved to a
perfect 11-0 to start the Barossa,
Light & Gawler Netball Association
Senior 1 season, stylishly handling
Tanunda on the way to a 64-27 home
win.
The loss means Tanunda remains on
one win for the year, beating Freeling
53-37 in round eight.
Bulldog coach Robyn Crack said it
was a great opportunity to throw out a
few different looks and see if anything
has staying power, including an impressive
debut up forward.
“We debuted Zoe O’Brien at goal
shooter and she played a really good
game,” she said.
“She would have been a second-year
Inter 1 this year, but she’s been playing
senior twos instead – so she’s making
her way up through the ranks and impressing
every step of the way.
“Zoe has been working really hard
over the summer period with Shannon
Caire with her holding, and she’s so tall,
and strong through her upper body –
she’s definitely one for the future, but
it’s great she can help us right now if
we need.”
While most eyes were towards the
brand new shooting combination, Crack
said it was once again the defence that
set the table for the big win.
“Every week I say it, but our defensive
effort is what is getting it done,”
she said.
“Lucia Eastwood with her handsover
pressure was setting up so many
intercepts for Zoe (Hoffrichter) and
Anna-Grace (Close), and then we had
Teagan Lang running through centre,
and her pressure was outstanding as
well.
“It was all finished off by Shannon
and Adele Williams in the front end
– our motto is that if we score off our
processes, and then punish anything we
pick up, it’s going to go well for us.”
