Two Wells storms to reserves victory over Mallala
1 min read

A DOMINANT Two Wells comfortably defeated Mallala by 35 points to claim the Adelaide Plains reserves football premiership on Saturday.

The Roosters had lost to the Magpies twice in the home and away season, most recently in August by 23 points.

However, Two Wells put its form against Mallala behind it, and built a seven-point lead at quarter-time.

The Roosters continued to crow in the second quarter, and piled on the scoreboard pressure.

Brad Calvett, Justin Platt and Tom Swain-Atkinson were doing plenty as their side opened up a 19-point lead at the main break.

The Magpies struggled to get into the contest, and that was shown in the third quarter as they kicked just one behind to the Roosters’ wasteful 1.5. Kieran Watson and Ben O’Leary tried hard to get the Pies back into the match, but it was to no avail as their side trailed by 29 points at the final break.

It was party time for the relentless Roosters in the last quarter, as they kicked 2.2 to the Pies’ 1.2 to claim the flag.

Calvett, Swain-Atkinson and Platt all ended with a couple of goals, while Sean Haydon, Matt Rogan and Ryley Cummings added to the scoreboard.

For the Pies, Cam Maher, O’Leary, Arran Fox and Jonty Doudle kicked their four majors, as league leading goal-kicker Ian McMillan was held goalless for just the second time this season.

Two Wells’ Ben Stubing was named best on ground.
