Two teens killed on allegedly stolen motorbike
1 min read

FRIENDS and family have paid tribute to two northern suburbs teenagers killed in an Elizabeth East crash on Friday night, where they were hit while riding an allegedly stolen motorbike.

Police were called to the intersection of Main North and Hogarth roads just before 8pm after a motorbike, which had been travelling south, collided with a car turning right into Shandon Court.

The pillion passenger, 17-year-old Andrews Farm boy Zachary Sandelance died at the scene, with the rider, 18-year-old Davoren Park man Jaydn Short, later dying in hospital.

A 46-year-old Hillbank man who was driving the car was uninjured but taken to hospital as a precaution.

Major Crash investigators attended the crash scene for several hours after the incident, with the intersection closed during the investigation.

Police believe the orange 2016 KTM RC390 motorbike the teens were riding had been stolen from Adelaide on Wednesday, May 13.

The two teens were the 43rd and 44th lives lost on South Australian roads this year, compared to 45 at the same time in 2019.

Friends and family took to Facebook to pay tribute to the deceased teens, with Mr Short’s auntie Gemma Betts saying he was a “fighter”.

“(You) came into this world a fighter and have been since,” she said.

“My world will be forever different my first born nephew gone so soon. I love (you) mate never a day will go by (where) I won't think of (you) my angel – fly high.”

Zachary’s friends remembered him as fun loving and irreplaceable.

“Not one person on earth could replace (you), gonna miss you man. Till we meet again,” one friend wrote on Facebook.

“You don’t realise how much you are missed brother,” another posted.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the motorbike prior to the crash to contact Crime Stoppers South Australia on 1800 333 000 or report on line at www.crimestopperssa.com.au - you can remain anonymous.
