Trinity sputters out of the blocks
1 min read

IN the first round of local footy since leagues restarted, Trinity Old Scholars were given a reality check in its first Division Six matchup against St Paul’s Old Scholars, where despite a close first half, the TOSers were run over late.
Trinity actually claimed the lead at quarter time, leading 15-14, and despite failing to score at all in the second quarter, only went into halftime down eight points.
The second half was a different story, with the TOSers only kicking two more goals for the rest of the game while St Paul’s, behind a dominant ruck showing from Apech Deng, was able to pile on 10 to hand Trinity a 32-85 final score.
TOSers captain Dylan Winning said the lack of a trial game in the lead-up was evident as the boys were trying to get up to game speed in real time.
“We just weren’t in the contest for long enough, and probably our lack of a proper trial game came back to hurt us,” he said.
“There’s still a decent feeling amongst the group to come out next week and perform on a better oval.
“We’re just going to need to get some clean movement around the contest and give ourselves some space to run and use the footy.”
Jace O’Hara was Trinity’s best on ground after providing an aggressive contest up forward for all four quarters.
