Trinity Old Scholars stumble on day one
1 min read

TRINITY Old Scholars had a poor first day of its two-day Adelaide Turf Cricket Association A1 matchup at Ingle Farm, limping to a score of 111 thanks to some tail-end heroics.
Opener Shaun Lay put together a respectable innings, scoring 24 from 73 deliveries, but after his partner fell for four runs, the next six batsmen out of the sheds combined for 13 runs.
Bradley Schaper came out at nine with the score at 7/44, and hung around for 66 balls to contribute 23 runs, and importantly build a partnership with number 10, Joshua Southwell.
Southwell finished 34 not-out from 72 deliveries, including six boundaries as he willed his side into triple figures, but ultimately his side ran out of wickets with 14 overs of play remaining in the day.
Ingle Farm was not taking any chances later in the day, safely and slowly batting out the remaining time to reach stumps at 0/17 and take complete control heading into day two.
It was an even worse showing in A3, with Trinity set to battle out the full second day with no hope of a result, playing only to avoid an outright loss to Ingle Farm.
Winning the toss and batting first at home, the TOSers lost wickets early and often, with Domenic De Ruvo (19) and Stefan Lainas (18) the only players to reach double figures on the way to a disappointing score of 65.
With 44 overs of daylight left, Ingle Farm pushed the pedal to the metal, racing to a score of 3/194 before stumps to hold a 129-run lead heading into day two.
The TOSers got one on the board in their LO4 one-day game at Walkerville, winning by six wickets.
Trinity’s Matt Knox was terrific with the ball, taking 5/27 in his nine overs to help hold the hosts to 8/156 in the 40 overs.
Chasing, openers Jacob Snook (25) and Daniel Tanti (68 from 51 deliveries) set the table for a comfortable chase, with number-three Nathan Kennedy guiding his side home with a quick 34 not-out from 22 deliveries to reach the total in 32 overs.
