Trinity fades late against top dogs
1 min read

TRINITY Old Scholars hosted the undefeated and league-leading Hectorville on Saturday in its Adelaide Footy League division six matchup, with the visitors finding another gear in the second half to runaway eight-goal winners.
After a tough first quarter which saw the Hounds take a 21-7 lead, the TOSers came back hard, kicking 4.3 in the second to trim the margin to 34-42 at the main break.
Hectorville, and Jake Mazzone (six goals), put the game to bed in the ‘premiership quarter’, keeping the home side scoreless and piling on 26 unanswered points, before adding another four goals in the last to secure a final score of 14.9 (93) to 6.11 (47).
Trinity captain Dylan Winning said he was flat about how his side came out in the second half, but acknowledged they were beaten by likely the best team in the division.
“We came up against the benchmark of the competition this week and it was disappointing to lose by the margin we did… we were the better side in the first half,” he said.
“Their best players got on top of us in the second half and the game blew out from there.
“Despite that, it was a pleasing first half with lots of players contributing, and defensively and offensively playing how we wanted to.
“We just need to start playing four quarters to win these types of games.”
The result sees Trinity OS sitting 2-2, firmly in the hunt for finals with five rounds remaining.
