TRAINING for contact sports has been given the all clear to return this coming Monday, June 1, as part of South Australia’s loosening on COVID-19 restrictions.
The plan also specifies that competition for outdoor contact sports can kick off on June 25, while non-contact outdoor sport seasons can start this Monday.
Barossa, Light and Gawler Football Association president Mick Brien said the dates outlined by the State Government “mean nothing” while there is still no word on the league’s primary sticking point, which is the allowance crowds into venues. Brien also outlined a June 16 meeting where the fate of the 2020 season will be decided with a vote amongst the clubs, with July 17 being the latest possible start date the league will entertain.
