TOSers in the finals hunt
1 min read

THROUGH six rounds of the Adelaide Footy League division six season, four teams are effectively eliminated from finals contention at 1-5, but Trinity Old Scholars are right in the mix as one of five 4-2 sides after a good win at Houghton Districts.
Those five 4-2 sides are essentially playing for four finals spots, with Hectorville running away with top-spot at an undefeated 6-0.
As the team with the worst percentage among the 4-2’s, the TOSers need convincing wins, and it got off to a strong start as it topped 100 points for the second time this season in a 16.9 (105) to 10.7 (67) win.
Despite the final score, the game itself was anything by smooth sailing as the TOSers slowly let the Raiders back into the game after a 28-2 first quarter.
Trinity captain Dylan Winning said a hint of complacency set in when the boys felt they were home, and it took a big fourth-quarter lift to get out clean.
“We always knew it was going to be a slog on a wet afternoon at Houghton – especially on their small oval,” he said.
“We became slightly selfish as a team after the first term, letting them come back into the game gradually.
“That all changed in the last quarter with the season on the line, everybody came out willing to work and do the team things which in turn put up a very strong to finish the game and keeps the season rolling.”
Trinity finished the game with some glimpses of its best football, dominating the fourth quarter 41-6 to blow out the margin.
