NAIL, spa and beauty salons reopened across the region on Monday after COVID-19 restrictions temporarily closed businesses on March 25.

Gawler’s PT Nails Salon was among beauty businesses forced to close, along with other services offering waxing, tanning, eyelash extensions and more.

Salon owner Thuy Eardley said her business had money “going out not in” over the10-week closure.

“We’ve had no income coming in, but we are so happy to be back,” she said.

“Our team has put new systems in place to follow COVID-19 regulations, including a Perspex screen at every manicure station, hand sanitiser on every table, cleaning spray to use after every customer and the stations are spread out for 1.5 metre social distancing.

“We also change the nail files after every customer, offer a completely new buffer and small tools are sanitised after each use.

“Only 20 people are also only allowed inside the salon at one time, including staff, and I usually have about six workers on.”

Mrs Eardley said she had been inundated with messages from clients.

“It feels wonderful to be reopened and we have received too many messages and questions, so I have tried to keep people updated on our Facebook page,” she said.

“Please be patient, we will get everyone in when we can.

“All staff have been trained in Barbicide COVID- certification, as we want to protect our customers, but also ourselves.

“We also offer face masks to clients who want them and have a screen between each pedicure station.

“I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone again and making people feel fantastic with their nails done.”
