LIAM PHILLIPS
TOP-RANKED Barossa, Light & Gawler
Football Association reserves side Nuriootpa
received an almighty percentage
boost with a 24.17 (161) to 0.0 home win
against likely wooden-spooner Freeling
on Saturday.
Fourteen Tigers kicked goals, with six bagging
multiples, led by Nathan Salter’s four.
Salter’s four goals brings his league-leading
tally to 41, with Tanunda’s Thomas Falkenberg
(30) the only other player with more
than 22.
Rhyley Haynes won best-on-ground in the
blowout, while for the Redlegs, Greg Schulz
and Craig Schulz were the bravest of the
bunch.
Third-placed Gawler Central and fifthplaced
Angaston played the game of the
round, with the Tigers prevailing narrowly
to take a 8.8 (56) to 8.6 (54) home win.
Jonathan Schulz led Gawler Central’s
forward line with three goals, while for Angaston
it was Tyler McKessor providing the
bulk of the damage, kicking four.
Joshua Needham ended up with best-onground
honours for the winning side, while
Archie Hadden was the losing side’s best.
Angaston’s loss opened the door for Kapunda
to potentially sneak into the fifth and
final post-season spot, with the Bombers’
16.11 (107) to 4.1 (25) away win at Barossa
District pulling the Dutton Park side to within
percentage points of the top-five.
Cameron McKinnon feasted up forward
with nine goals, more than doubling his total
for the season, with teammate Joshua Robinson
named as the only player better on the
day.
Tyson Charlie-Lane was the Bulldogs’
best, with Aaron Degreef and Isaac Werner
hitting the scoresheet as well.
Fourth-placed Tanunda secured its spot in
the finals with a 12.5 (77) to 0.6 (6) home
win against Willaston. Thomas Falkenberg
kicked five goals to continue his strong season
up forward, while William Byrum and
Karl Grocke were the Magpies’ best.
Zac Meyvogel and Ryan Tyrrell were the
Donnybrooks’ best, but the loss all but eliminates
any hopes of a late-season finals push.
