Tigers tear through Greenock

GAWLER Central’s quest for a return to A1 action has got off to the perfect start as it sealed first innings points over Greenock on day one of its Barossa & Light A1-reserves cricket match on Saturday.
The Tigers won the toss and elected to bowl in the first game of the new season, and the Schlungers struggled against their bowling attack.
Greenock was skittled for just 66, as Corey Smith and Michael Davis took three wickets apiece.
Dylan Birchard top-scored for the Schlungers with an unbeaten 15.
The Tigers are 6/151 at stumps, with Dhruv Sharma unbeaten on 72 off 75 deliveries.
Elsewhere, Light Pass announced itself as a potential contender following a stellar opening day of play against Angaston.
Lighties were bowled out for 278, largely thanks to Danny Kaye who belted 67 off 47 balls.
Nathan Koch was also impressive with 60, while Brett Nitschke chipped in with 27.
Henry Ratcliff was the pick of the Blues’ bowlers with 3/31.
Meanwhile, it was a tough start to life in the A1-reserves for relegated Kapunda, as it dropped first innings points to Eudunda-Robertstown.
The Bombers won the toss and elected to bat, and were unceremoniously bowled out for a paltry 75.
Travis Opitz and Sam Ryan combined for 44 of the team’s total as Cody Reese (5/27) ripped them apart.
Eudunda-Robertstown is currently 1/124 following David Cluse’s 63-run knock.
Jack Mosey and Sam Nietschke are at the crease.
Lastly, Willaston has already claimed first innings points over Lyndoch.
The Dockers were bowled out for just 91, as off-season recruit Mitch McIver took 6/34.
Brandon Nottle was the top-scorer for the Donnybrooks in their knock, as they made 132.
Matthew Robinson took four wickets for Lyndoch.
In A2 action, South Gawler set Gawler Central a 224-run target ahead of day two on Saturday.
Jarrod Kroon made 45, while Ben Washington put together 33 as the Lions finished the afternoon 9/224.
Antonio Cufone was the Tigers’ best bowler with 3/19.
In A3, Willaston trails Greenock by 203 runs as it heads into day two.
The Schlungers won the toss and elected to bat, and Will Schluter Prouse put on a show.
The Greenock gun made 106 from 94 deliveries, smashing 19 boundaries.
Hudson Noack was also solid, scoring a handy 41.
Josh Carter took 5/82 for the Donnybrooks, as the Schlungers were all out for 248 from just 49 overs.
Willaston is 4/45 in reply with Jarrod Hicks and Shane Doolan (both unbeaten on 12) still at the crease.
The A4 and A5 competitions get under way this weekend.
