Tigers tame the Schlungers
2 min read

LOSING the toss and being sent in to bat on its home deck, Nuriootpa took advantage of the opportunity to put up a total of 5/164 in its one-day Barossa and Light Cricket Association A1 matchup against Greenock.
The Tigers started poorly, with both openers combining for only 20 runs, as well as the number three and four failing to reach a score of 10, but Mitch Norton and Daniel Doecke were more than ready to come in and right the ship.
After the pair took over at 5/74, they would bat out the rest of the innings, with Norton finishing on 64 not-out and Doecke on 35 not-out.
Teenager Will Schluter-Prouse was impressive with the ball, taking 4/37 in his seven overs with two maidens.
The Schlungers’ chase got off to a rough start with its opener losing his wicket without a run scored, followed by his partner soon after to leave the score at 2/6 early in proceedings.
Number three Hudson Noack was steady, although slow, as he stuck around with 19 from 54 deliveries to provide some stability, and although four of his teammates reached double figures, there was no starring performance with the bat for Greenock.
The Roennfeldt brothers, Daniel and Ben, top scored in the chase from near the bottom of the order with 30 and 28 not-out respectively, but needing a massive last over to steal the win, the Schlungers ran out of wickets to lose by 11 runs.

Magpies swoop the Lions
It was a much smoother win for Mallala at home against South Gawler as it won the toss, chose to bat, and then watched its opener and captain Brad Wilson set the table with a strong 62 runs from over two hours at the crease.
Surprisingly, despite its total of 8/184, Wilson was one of only two Magpie batsmen to score more than seven runs, with Matthew Birchmore (72 not-out) the other.
South Gawler got off to a horrific start to its chase, losing both openers for ducks as Wilson and Jake Charnstrom bowled the pair.
Ben McMullen put together a solid middle-order cameo, but his 44-run innings came to an end by way of run-out, illustrating what kind of day it was for the Lions as they were bowled out 48 runs short of the target.

Blues cruise
Angaston was also sent in to bat on its home deck after Sandy Creek won the toss, but the Blues were never made uncomfortable in their slightly-shortened 34-over innings, setting a target of 6/183.
Openers Jack Miles and Scott Rathjen delivered 47 and 30 runs respectively to set a terrific platform for the middle order, with Jack Henke (43 not-out) and Greg Bain (20) getting in on the action, while Michael Chesson (3/32) was the most notable Cockatoo bowling performance.
Unfortunately for the visitors, opening-batsmen play killed the chances of a close chase as quicks Jayden Antonie (1/30) and Brett Woodards (1/21) struck early with the Cockatoo openers combining for five runs.
Scott Rathjen (4/33) and Ben Antonie (3/18) would take care of the middle and tail order without too much trouble as Sandy Creek fell in just over 30 overs, 35 runs short of the target.
Gilbert Valley against Tanunda was called a draw as conditions meant play could never get underway.
