AFTER finishing on top of the Barossa and Gawler Combined division one ladder, Nuriootpa took out the grand final with a 10 sets to six win over Xavier Saints.
Despite splitting the men’s singles sets two-apiece, Nuri won all four men’s doubles sets 9-2, 9-2, 6-2 and 6-2 in a dominant showing, with Alexander Reincke and Timothy Grace going undefeated.
On the women’s side, Indi-Arna Morris capped off a superb season for the Xavier Saints women with an undefeated day, but splitting the women’s sets four-all wasn’t enough to bridge the gap.
The Saints’ women were on full display in the division two final against Willaston, winning five-out-of-six sets on the way to an 11 sets to five final score.
The visiting men fared better, taking half of the six men’s sets, but with three-of-four mixed doubles sets going to Xavier, it was one way traffic.
In a surprise result, the highly favoured Two Wells Red team succumbed to Lyndoch by four games in the division three grand final.
The singles and doubles were evenly shared through the day, with Lyndoch having a better win ratio after the final set to be crowned premiers, reversing last year’s result.
Lyndoch’s Emma Lange won her three sets, while Dale McDonald for Two Wells only dropped six games for the day.
