Tanunda virus clinic downsized
1 min read

SA Health has downsized its COVID-19 testing clinic at Tanunda Hospital as the state nears another two-week streak of no new coronavirus cases.

As of last Wednesday, the existing stand-alone clinic was converted into a drive-through only service as the number of people presenting for testing dropped.

The Barossa was an early hotspot at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a cluster of 40 infected people identified in the area – many of them overseas tourists.

Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network chief executive officer Rebecca Graham said the drive-through testing service would be open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm.

“As of Wednesday June 3, COVID-19 swab testing at Tanunda Memorial Hospital will be consolidated with the drive-through clinic located outside the hospital.

“Drive-through and walk-through presentations are welcome with no booking or GP referral required.

“Patients presenting to the existing stand-alone COVID-19 clinic, located at the rear of the hospital, will be safely redirected to the drive-through clinic, located near the front of the hospital.

“Should there be a significant increase in the numbers presenting for testing, the stand-alone testing clinic will be re-opened.”

Stand-alone testing clinics at the Gawler Health Service and the Lyell McEwin Hospital are now the nearest in the Gawler region.
