THE Gawler Show may have been cancelled this year, but plenty of locals have kept up the spirit by entering a new online competition.

Gawler Show entries administrator Donna Noble said a total of 185 entries were submitted, across several categories, many of which related to the community’s need to self-isolate or spend a great deal at home because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The entries were judged by conveners, volunteers and committee members, everyone had fun and enjoyed the process,” she said.

“We received many entries from schools and aged care facilities and we saw some incredible works overall.

“There are many talented people in our community and we look forward to seeing what will be produced for the 2021 Gawler Show.”

Ms Noble said the most popular categories were the Painting & Drawing and Photography sections.  “The School Poster section was also well supported and the overall winner will see their creation printed as this year’s Gawler Show Christmas card,” she said.

Other fun categories included funny fruit and vegetable growing, Lego building, and best chalk walk design.
