THE Gawler Cinema is set to re-open this Friday as Hollywood begins releasing new movies once again, highlighted by Christopher Nolan’s new film with Academy Award buzz, Tenet.
GAWLER Cinema owner John Thorpe says his business will remain closed until at least the end of school holidays in mid-July.
LOCALS have been left out of work and business owners are scrambling to find ways to survive after the Federal Government ordered the closure of pubs and entertainment venues across Australia.
WHEN word got out that John Thorpe and his wife Joy were planning to sell the Gawler Cinema as they looked to retire, Mr Thorpe received a message from someone that had read legendary country musician Smoky Dawson was once hosted at the venue.
GAWLER Cinema raised over $3500 for the Gawler Cancer Council branch recently, with all proceeds going towards research to find a cure for the disease.
