IN a clash between Barossa and Lights division one bowls’ bottom-two sides, Kapunda won its third game of the season on Freeling’s green, but it still wasn’t enough to climb off the bottom of the ladder.
The visitors won all four rinks, taking two by three shots, and two by 12 shots, as the visitors failed to capture any momentum.
In the match of the round, Nuriootpa won its top-four meeting against a visiting Tanunda, despite only winning one rink.
The visitors’ Tony Edwards and Tim Liersch won their crews’ respective frames by nine shots apiece, with David Martin leading his four to a 26-19 score-line.
The fourth and final rink swung everything back in Nuriootpa’s favour, with Wayne Williams’ crew pulling through with an unlikely 35-8 win to steal a 93-91 final score.
Fourth-placed Eudunda’s 108-88 win over fifth-placed Lyndoch opened up a three-win gap between the two sides, locking in this season’s finals participants.
Harry Sykes’ crew came closest to winning a rink for Lyndoch, losing 27-28, while Bob Howell’s four fell short by a score of 24-26.
In division 2b, Kapunda pulled within one game of finals after a convincing 93-58 win at home against Lyndoch.
Freeling, sitting in fourth place, blew a golden opportunity to pull two-games clear, losing by 20 shots to wooden-spoon favourites Eudunda.
Angaston came one step closer to securing top-spot after beating Nuriootpa 93-50, now sitting a game and 20 percentage points clear of Tanunda in second with two rounds remaining.
