South storms past Tanunda
1 min read

A STUNNING performance from South Gawler on Saturday has put it within one game of the Barossa, Light & Gawler under 17 grand final after it defeated Tanunda by 20 points in the qualifying final over the weekend.
The two sides had been neck and neck all year, along with Willaston, with all three teams finishing on 24 points.
The Lions slipped into third, and showed why they’re a force to be reckoned with by kicking away to a 14-point lead at quarter-time.
The Magpies hit back and cut the margin to nine points at half-time, and again to eight at three-quarter-time.
However, just when it seemed Tanunda would snatch the game from South’s grasps, the Lions pounced with three goals to one in the final stanza to secure the victory.
Tanunda stars Liam Ellis and Isaac Feltus did the majority of the scoring with three and two majors respectively, while Tate Manning continued his terrific form.
For South, Cody Gilchrist and Tom Clements proved to be too good for the Magpies defenders, and kicked four goals each.
South captain Sam Riggs led from the front, while Jaden Gurney was impressive.

Donnys do it easy

Willaston made short work of Barossa District in Sunday’s elimination final,
thrashing the Bulldogs by 40 points.
The Donnybrooks, led by tall timber Zac East, stormed out of the blocks to lead by 20 points at quarter-time, and looked threatening.
The Bulldogs then found a way back into the game and chopped the margin to
16 points at the main break.
However, it was all Willaston after half-time.
Despite going goalless in the third quarter, the Donnybrooks were dominant and held the ball inside their attacking 50 for most of the term.
A swift counter attack gave Barossa some hope, as it rallied to be within 13 points at the final break.
The Donnybrooks then found their kicking boots and buried the Bulldogs with four goals to nothing in the final quarter.
East was inspirational with a lazy six goals, while Hudson Cole snagged a couple.
Xander Bates was the only multiple goal-kicker for the defeated Dogs with two.
