Season’s greetings: Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition opens…
1 min read

WITH the silly season fast-approaching local school children have been invited to take part in the annual Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition.

Gawler Mayor Karen Redman invites primary school students from reception to year 5 who either live or attend a school within the council region to draw or paint a Christmas scene that they feel reflects what Christmas means to them.

Council is thrilled that one of Gawler’s successful business women, Allison Sadler from Gawler Books, has once again agreed to support and contribute to the Christmas Card Competition by providing all winners with gift vouchers.

In addition, participating schools will receive a bundle of books from Gawler Books.

The three categories include:

Category 1 - reception and year 1

Category 2 - year 2 and 3

Category 3 - year 4 and 5

First, second and third prizes will be awarded to each category. The winning entries from each category will be printed onto Christmas Cards with the student’s name, year and school printed on the inside of the card.

Each year Ms Redman uses these as her Mayoral Christmas cards, sharing the wonderful talents of the children in Gawler.

“I’m especially excited to announce the Christmas Card competition is now open as 2020 has been a very challenging year for our community,” she said.

“It’s therefore important that we have these types of activities to enable our young people to showcase their creative talents and celebrate a special time of the year here in Gawler.”

Winning entrants, their parents/care givers and school representatives will be invited to an awards ceremony to receive their prize.

Entries close on Friday, September 25, 2020.
