School zones settled
1 min read

NEW school zones, brought about due to the new Angle Vale birth to year 12 school, have been locked in.

The Angle Vale ‘super-school’ is due to open in 2022, on a 14-hectare site at 28 Riverbanks Road, catering for up to 1675 students.

Last week, the education department confirmed its proposed in-take zone would remain the same as the one outlined in the public consultation process, held earlier this year.

For the school’s senior students, the zone stretches between Thompson Beach, Virginia, and Hillier Park and Munno Para Downs.

The school’s primary school zone will be shared with Angle Vale Primary School and located within the boundaries of Gawler Road to the North, Pederick Road to the West and Andrews Road to the South/East.

Meanwhile, existing school zones for both Mark Oliphant, and Gawler & District Colleges have been reduced.

Previously the senior school zone for Gawler and District College had stretched to Two Wells, Mallala, and Freeling, however it is now proposed to only include areas generally within the Gawler Council area, as well as nearby Concordia, Kalbeeba, Bibaringa, Hewett, Gawler Belt and Kangaroo Flat.

Only one change has been made since the consultation period, which relates to the Gawler & District College B-12 zone.

The border at Gawler Belt/Roseworthy has been moved further south – from Kangaroo Flat Road (east of the rail line) to Edward Road.

The final zones have been published on the ‘find a school or preschool’ web page (education.sa.gov.au), to help parents find their zoned or closest school and to plan for the 2022 school year.

Students already enrolled at a school will not be affected by any changes to zones.
