Scheer comes up short
1 min read

LIAM PHILLIPS
IT was a heartbreaking end to
ex-Gawler Central Tiger Chloe
Scheer’s incredible comeback story,
with the Adelaide Crows going down
3.2 (20) to 6.2 (38) in Saturday’s
AFLW grand final at Adelaide Oval.
It was a quiet day for many of the
Crows’ stars, with Erin Phillips finishing
with just eight touches and one
behind, while star midfielder Ebony
Marinoff registered 17 touches and six
tackles, which were both down from her
season averages.
Scheer had six touches and two tackles
playing in a forward line that was starved
of supply all day against a Brisbane team
which played near-flawless defence.
Best-on-ground went to Lion key defender
Kate Lutkins, who repeatedly
took intercept marks and refused to be
beaten one-on-one.
While it would’ve been a storybook
ending for Scheer, who missed over a
year of footy following a serious injury
in the Crows’ 2019 grand final win,
there are still plenty of chapters to be
written in the exciting career of the
21-year-old.
