Sandy Creek defeats Saints
1 min read

SANDY Creek continued its dominance over the Gawler & District A-grade netball competition, thrashing Xavier Saints by 19 goals on Saturday.

The Cockatoos were again terrific, with Amber Rogers’ accuracy in goals being the dominating factor.

Losing Alyssa Wilson through injury in the second quarter unsettled the Cockatoos slightly, and brought the Saints into the game.

Jess Maslin’s accuracy in goals improved for the Saints in the last half to reduce the gap.

However, Jenny Dyson displayed her dominance in goal keeper for the Cockatoos, picking off numerous passes and rebounds.

Meanwhile, Virginia crushed St George’s by 22 goals.

Virginia domineered with tremendous passing from Amber Vidovich into Melissa Erikson in goals.

The new St Georges’ lineup is yet to gel together, however Brooke Phelps put in a solid game in defence.

Finally, Lutheran has secured its first A-grade victory, defeating Gumnuts by three goals.

It was a close game, but Lutheran came back from a seven-goal deficit in the first quarter to win.

It was a resilient effort from Lutheran defenders Sharla O’Neill and Hannah Winter.

In the B grade, Sandy Creek’s form also continued as it defeated United by 30 goals.

The Cockies now sit atop the A-grade and B-grade ladders after successive heavy wins.

Meanwhile, Xavier Saints recovered from its loss to United to beat Virginia by 34 goals.

In the C grade, Xavier Saints Yellow kick-started its campaign with a nail-biting one-goal win over Lutheran.

Elsewhere, Xavier Saints Green backed up its close victory over Lutheran with an eight-goal win against Virginia.
