Wet and wild at the track

IT was a wild and woolly day out at the Gawler greyhound track on Friday, but that didn't stop the Ray Burgess-trained greyhound Bangor Sophia from impressing yet again with a strong win.
Bangor Sophia was sent out as an easing $2.40 favourite and from box two over the 400 metres, and jumped straight to the front with a sizzling 8.66 first split, well ahead of the second dog’s 9.42.
Sir Julian and American Movie got into a bit of a tangle behind Sophia which gave some of the slower starters an opportunity of a place, but for Sophia it was just a matter of how big her winning margin would be.
After a near flawless race, Sophia stopped the clock with a personal best, and time of the day, of 22.86 seconds to win by nine-and-a-quarter lengths.
Second place went to last week’s winner Tanjil Ace.

The win today gives her three wins on the bounce, and five wins from six career starts to provide an extraordinary platform for bigger and better things.
Races continue this coming Friday, and again on Tuesday, with all action broadcasted live on Sky Racing.
The heats for the Gawler Produce are to be held soon, with some very talented Greyhounds lining up over the coming weeks.
