Questions raised over Roseworthy
1 min read

THE expected timeframe for the expansion of Roseworthy will be the subject of a report presented to this month’s Light Regional Council meeting.

Councillor Peter Kennelly had a motion passed at council’s June meeting to have a full report furnished on the Roseworthy Township Expansion, including the timeline for completion for the various stages of development.

The report will cover and provide commentary on the development of housing, commercial properties, education facilities, the proposed Horrocks Highway roundabout, recreation and sporting facilities, industrial areas, and the provision of public transport.

Information has also been requested relating to the current rate status of undeveloped land and its rate potential when subdivided into allotments.

The Roseworthy project goes back almost 15 years to when a Township Strategic Review paper identified the potential for allotments on land directly south of the existing township.

Private interest in growth at Roseworthy can be traced back to late 2007/early 2008, with the minister for planning endorsing the Roseworthy Township Expansion Development Plan Amendment (DPA) in February, 2014.

Since then, developers and council have worked together to progress the various deeds relating to the provision of infrastructure, clearing the way for individual development applications to be brought to council.

In May, councillor Simon Zeller called for a report that compiled all the costs council had incurred in conjunction with the Roseworthy project, however the motion was lost.
