Plucky Dogs fall to Eagles

CENTRAL District was unable to challenge
Woodville-West Torrens as it went down
by 29 points in SANFL action on Saturday.
The Bulldogs did get off to a bright start at
Elizabeth Oval as Connor McLean snagged
the first major of the afternoon.
Jake von Bertouch then struck back for the
Eagles before Darcy Pisani responded for the
Dogs.
Von Bertouch would land his second before
former Central star Dan Menzel slotted his
first of the afternoon to ensure his side led by
seven points at quarter-time.
It was all about the Eagles in the second
term.
Cooper Sharman opened the scoring but
Aiden Grace responded for the Dogs.
Zane Williams, Menzel and Tyson Stengle
then all piled on more misery as they blew the
margin out to 26 points at half-time.
Grace’s second and Kyle Presbury’s first
gave the Dogs a pulse as the Eagles butchered
opportunities in front of goals.
Stengle kicked his second as the Eagles’
sole goalkicker in the third term but they still
maintained a 24-point lead.
The two sides exchanged blows in the final
quarter with the Dogs never really in the contest.
Presbury had 25 touches in addition to his
goal, while Harry Grant had 24.
