Playford’s Community Development Grants open

COMMUNITY Development Grants are now open for non-profit community organisations, groups and associations within Playford Council.

Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said the council is encouraging any local groups looking to develop a project, event, exhibition or performances to apply.

“Local organisations make our city a vibrant and stimulating place to live, and we want to support them with their community-led initiatives to continue this great work,” he said.

“We are looking for those groups who want to activate community spaces, support the arts, physical activity and health and wellbeing, or are developing locally based events the whole community can enjoy.”

In the last round of grant funding, the City of Playford provided up to $28,000 to local non-profit community organisations, groups and associations.

One successful applicant was the One Tree Hill Soccer Club, which has put its $3000 grant towards the upcoming CFS Shield and Come ‘n Try Day on February 27.

Club president Jake Milka said the support has helped the club hire amenities to run the fundraiser event.

“This has allowed us to join our Come ‘n Try Day with the CFS Shield to make it a bigger event, but also cut the amount of money we have to take from our fundraising efforts to recoup the costs from the day,” he said.

The next round of Community Development and Event Grant funding closes at 5pm on Friday, February 26.
