MARK Oliphant College will be the beneficiary of a $2.6 million upgrade, with designs finalised for a new innovation laboratory.

The upgrade will also include new spaces for art, food technology and more.

Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said he was delighted to see the State Government invest in the region and its students.

“It’s fantastic to see the South Australian Government contribute $2.6 million to this upgrade at one of our very important schools,” he said.

“It’s great to see a new food technology space, laboratory, robotics and 3D printing centre,” he said.

“It really is showcasing the opportunity for manufacturing and new jobs in the future in those industries.

“It is a large school in a growing part of Playford and we want to make sure all of our students from birth to Year 12 have access to world-class facilities and world-class education close to home.”

Mr Docherty said it’s vital for the region’s future to have the upgrades for both the students and jobs moving forward.

“It’s important as we want to make sure the jobs of the future and jobs that are here now, our students are equipped with those schools and integrating that with their learning while they’re at school,” he said.
