New colouring book aimed at young athletes
1 min read

WHEN all Tae Kwon Do competitions were cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, martial arts instructor John Connelly realised it would be a long time before his kids, and many other kids, would be able to play sport again.
“Having children myself, I was like ‘if you can’t play sport, and all the competitions are cancelled this year, we’ll make a book about sports’,” Mr Connelly said.
“Having a background in education, I know how colouring in really helps with fine motor skills, improves attention span, and a lot of cognitive skills that make kids a lot more coachable.
“Not only do we want to encourage kids to learn about sports they wouldn’t usually be exposed to – a lot of kids play what their parents want them to – but in education we expose them to sports like volleyball, or softball… for me growing up, all those sports are what Gawler’s famous for.”
Mr Connelly’s new book, titled Let’s Colour, is his second after he first made Let’s Move several years ago to help new coaches and parents get kids moving.
People can find Let’s Colour at Book Bird book store in Tea Tree Gully, or alternatively anyone can request it to be ordered by their local book store.
