More locals to get 5G
1 min read

TELECOMMUNICATIONS company Telstra has switched on its 5G services for more local customers as part of its national rollout.

New Telstra 5G coverage is now available in Balaklava, Freeling, Clare and Port Wakefield. The recent 5G network upgrade will also deliver improved 4G capacity and speeds in the local area.

Telstra (SA) regional general manager Mark Bolton said the rollout of Telstra 5G connectivity to these four new locations meant customers with 5G mobile devices could enjoy a better mobile
experience.

“There are more than one million 5G devices already connected to the Telstra network and thousands more 5G devices being added every week,” Mr Bolton said.

“We’re continually expanding our 5G network across South Australia and we’re adding up to 60 new Telstra 5G sites to the network every week across the country.

“Rolling out Telstra 5G in the Mid North of SA demonstrates Telstra’s commitment to regional Australia as we expand our 5G network across the country.”

Earlier this month, Telstra reported tests carried out in the Barossa Valley had achieved a throughput of more than 20Gbps on Telstra’s 5G network.

Parts of Gawler’s surrounds, such as Evanston, Hewett, Willaston, Cockatoo Valley and Lyndoch, already have 5G coverage with Telstra, while 5G coverage for the town centre is “coming soon”.
