Magpies men dominate

GAWLER-TRINITY Old Scholars were dealt a reality check in Barossa Valley A-men hockey on Saturday as they were thrashed 8-0 by Tanunda.

The Magpies enjoyed the return to form with four goals in each half, headlined by a hat-trick from Daniel Gogoll.

Ryan Muirhead added a double, while Phil Southern, Joe Bulla and Jack Bentley completed the rout.

Meanwhile, the premiership race is wide open after Angaston-Moculta United knocked off Nuriootpa 3-1.

AMU scored two first-half goals, which proved to be the difference.

Daniel Wall scored a brace, while John Thomas added the third for the victors.

For the losing side, Cody Longo continued his terrific individual season with a goal.

In A-women action, Nuriootpa thumped AMU 6-1.

The sides were deadlocked at nil-all at halftime before Nuri put its foot down.

Kim Doecke and Renee Bishop both scored twice, while Courtney Nourse and Tyler Burgess added one extra each.

In the other A-women match, Gawler continued its terrific run by belting Tanunda 5-1.

In B-men, Tanunda Black thumped Trinity Old Scholars 4-0.

Robert Blythman, Trevor Hongell, Michael Jarrett and Rohan Semmler scored one goal each for the victors.

Meanwhile, Nuriootpa Gold overcame Tanunda White 4-1.

Michael Grope was the star for Nuri with two goals, while Rob Griffin scored Tanunda’s sole goal.

In the remaining games, Clare United knocked off Nuri Gold 3-2, and AMU Maroon drew nil-all with AMU Blue.

Lastly, Gawler defeated AMU 1-0 in B-women action.

Michelle Darling scored the match-winning goal for the Strikers.

Elsewhere, Tanunda defeated Trinity Old Scholars 4-0.

Mel Partington scored twice, while Jan Falconer and Sam Davies added a goal each.

In the final game, Clare United crushed Nuriootpa 5-0.
