Lyndoch establishes itself as division one contender
1 min read

LYNDOCH has established itself as the clear danger to knock off top-dogs Angaston in Barossa & Light Bowling Association’s Saturday division one competition, with a solid 104-88 win at Tanunda separating the top-two from the rest of the field.
The four rinks were split evenly, but with the Lyndoch fours led by Wayne Williams and Darren Green finishing 15 and 16 shots up respectively, the damage was done.
The result sees Tanunda drop from third on the ladder to fifth with Kapunda and Nuriootpa both collecting wins to rise up the tightly-bunched ladder.
Kapunda won a tight one at Freeling 84-81, with the four of Mike Cotton, Greg Cruickshank, Kevin Robinson and Roger Gill taking their rink by 10 shots to edge the final result.
Nuriootpa made it look much easier, heading to Eudunda and leaving with a 27-shot win to relegate the hosts to a record of 0-10 – four wins behind second-last.
In division 2a, Kapunda maintained third place on the ladder with an 84-81 home win over Eudunda, winning all three rinks, with Bob Booth’s four leading the way to take its frame 28-18.
Freeling collected its second win of the year at Nuriootpa, taking the meeting 74-62 – taking two of the three rinks on offer, including a 26-14 result from Leanne Mullins’ four, and dropping one frame by only two shots.
Angaston rounded out the division’s action with another confident win over Lyndoch 85-54 to remain undefeated after 13 rounds
In division 2b, Tanunda and Freeling sit tied atop the ladder on 98 premiership points, with both collecting wins on Saturday.
Tanunda did the job safely on the road against Freeling, winning 80-51 and taking all three rinks.
Things were a little hairier in Angaston, but the hosts escaped with a 66-65 win as Robert Koerner’s four edged out the rink 22-21 to seal the result.
Tanunda grabbed top spot of division three back from Nuriootpa, taking advantage of the Tigers being on bye this week to topple Angaston 78-40.
Lyndoch smashed Freeling 90-40 to hold onto fourth-place, while Eudunda got the better of Kapunda 62-49 to stay within touching distance of the finals.
