Locals become millionaires after Keno win

WHAT started as a casual catch-up over beers has nabbed two Gawler mates a whopping share in over $3.5 million.

The very lucky pair, who asked to remain anonymous, took out the Keno Spot 10 Jackpot while at the Kingsford Hotel, on Monday night – the likelihood of which is just one in 8.9 million.

Kingsford Hotel manager and licensee Tony Harnett said he can’t recall a win of this magnitude having occurred at the hotel before, with this being the first time a Keno Spot 10 Jackpot has gone off.

“The winners were Gawler regulars who came into the hotel to have a beer and enjoy a game of Keno,” he said.

“They went halves in a Keno ticket; there is a draw every three-and-a-half minutes; there are 80 numbers to select and, if you pick the 10, you win the jackpot.

“The jackpot, this time, was just over 3.5 million dollars.”

Mr Harnett said news of the win quickly spread around the state, with everyone incredibly excited and pleased for the two men.

“I was very pleased for the customers because they are beaut people and very popular personalities around the hotel,” he said.

“Everyone is really pleased for them.”
