Barossa District makes light work of Magpies
1 min read

LIAM PHILLIPS
BAROSSA District remained
one of three undefeated
teams in this year’s
Barossa, Light & Gawler
Netball Association Senior
1 division with a comprehensive
73-30 win over Tanunda.
Bulldogs coach Robyn
Crack complimented the
young Magpie side, but said
her team’s experience won
out on the day.
“Tanunda is a young side –
a lot of them have just come
up from the inters and they
had some great patches of
play,” she said.
“They’re going to take a bit
of time to rebuild their Senior
1s but they’ll be good if they
can stay together.
“Our girls just had much
more experience at the level
and it showed.
“In games like this, we
focus on treasuring the possession
and maintaining our
effort over four quarters, and
I thought we did that well.
“We wanted to be scoring
off of our own centre passes,
and for theirs we want to
create pressure and turnovers
and convert that into goals.”
Crack said she started out
with what she considers her
main line-up for a competitive
game, but played around
with some different looks
when the game was in hand.
“As the game wore on, we
mixed our defence around –
we put Anna-Grace (Close)
out in front of Zoe Hoffrichter
– and then in attack we
gave Adele Williams a run at
goal attack where she doesn’t
usually play.
“We also had Piper Riggs
come up from the Senior 2s to
make her debut – she played
a half for us to see how she
would go up at that level and
I thought she played well.”
Crack said there were a
number of players who could
have won the Anzac Day
medal, but ultimately the
honour went to Zoe Hoffrichter.
“Zoe played goal defence
initially, but split her time between
goal keeper as well and
she was massive back there,”
she said.
“From our perspective,
Coby Rodda was best-oncourt
for us – she was a workhorse
all day through the
centre – and Adele Williams
smashed it for us at goal attack
when it’s not a position
she normally plays.”
