LIFE is full of coincidences but some are more incredible than others – like three generations from a local family who all share the same birthday.
Hewett mother Karen McColl enjoyed a triple celebration recently with her son Bayleigh turning 10, her mother Lyn Whittaker turning 77 and herself turning 50 all on Saturday, July 25.
The three leos suitably celebrated the occasion by getting up close and personal with the lions at Monarto Safari Park through the 360 experience.
“As we were celebrating some milestone birthdays, we decided to do something special,” Ms McColl said.
“Our whole family came up to Monarto, but just the three of us did the 360 experience.
“It was amazing and you just don’t get any idea of how big the lions are until you’re up close.
“I highly recommend it to others and even just for anyone to visit Monarto as it is well worth the experience.”
The fact the trio are all born on the same day is almost too freaky to believe, as no medical intervention was used for either births.
“Bayleigh my son was born at Gawler Health Service by the sensational team of midwife Julie Mills and Dr Feisal Chenia and was nicknamed ‘the Birthday Baby’,” Ms McColl said.
“When Dr Chenia told me his due date I remember laughing and saying ‘you must be off by at least a few days’.
“I distinctly remember when I was in labor Julie, my midwife, went and had a break and she came back in and said I’ve Googled it and it’s a seven in a million chance of happening, he has to come today!
“Sure enough, he arrived smack bang in the middle of my birthday at 12.15pm.”
Ms McColl said sharing a birthday had enabled the three to form a special bond.
She said other birthdays within her family shared similar coincidences.
“My brother and grandma (mum’s mum) also share a birthday on April 18,” Ms McColl said.
“My second son Brodie also shares a birthday with his father’s mother.
“We are a bit weird, aren’t we?”
